Aidan graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1998 and with a Master of Laws degree in April 2000. He joined the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team at McCaw Lewis Chapman in 2000, and became a Partner in 2008.

Aidan leads the firm's Māori Legal Issues Team which specialises in Waitangi Tribunal, Māori Land Court, Treaty settlements and general litigation work involving Māori issues.

Aidan resides part time in Samoa where his wife and three children are located and has a current practising certificate to practice in Samoa.  Aidan is utilising his dispute resolution qualifications and experience by being appointed as an Arbitrator and Mediator in Samoa on civil disputes.
