Thomas commenced his legal career within a large Auckland based legal firm and, with a desire to return to the Waikato, joined McCaw Lewis Chapman's Company and Commercial Law Team in 2004.

Through rapid career progression Thomas was appointed a Partner of McCaw Lewis Chapman in 2008.

Thomas advises a range of clients on company and share structures, securities law, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, shareholder disputes, commercial contracts, business and franchise purchases, financing, and agribusiness.

As a nationally recognised property law practitioner Thomas acts for investors and developers and has advised on a number of complex subdivision and development projects, as well as regularly assisting clients with residential and commercial property and finance transactions.

Many of those involved in business and property matters wish to protect their assets through trusts, and Thomas has advised on the creation and administration of a number of family trusts.  He has also advised a number of prominent local and national charitable trusts.

Thomas has written articles in all of these areas for a range of publications and is the author of books on trust and property law.
