Melissa is a member of the Commercial Team.  She assists clients in the following areas:

• Governance advice for charities, incorporated societies, and post settlement governance entities
• Charities, including registration with the Charities Commission, review of rules, structural advice, administration advice, and incorporation
• Business sales and purchases
• Intellectual property, including legal advice on the creation, protection and use of trademarks
• Asset planning, including the establishment of trusts and the development and review of Wills and powers of attorney
• Residential conveyancing and property matters

Melissa has written articles on charities law.  She is a trustee of the Gemini Trust (a charitable trust) and volunteers for the Citizens Advice Bureau.  She has led seminars in asset planning as part of community education programmes.

Melissa graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in political science.  She joined McCaw Lewis in 2007.
